The invention titled “Enhancement of Biomethane Yield from Microalgae Using Rumen Fungi,” developed by Prof. Dr. Orhan İnce, a faculty member of the Environmental Engineering Department at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), and his team, and registered with an international patent, represents a significant scientific advancement in the fields of renewable energy and environmental biotechnology.

This innovative approach enables more efficient degradation of microalgal biomass, thereby increasing biomethane production efficiency; at the same time, it contributes to waste-to-energy conversion, reduction of carbon emissions, and the goals of the circular bioeconomy.
