Our innovative biomass-based technologies registered with an international patent from Spain

Within the scope of the studies we have carried out at Istanbul Technical University, I am pleased to share that two of our inventions developed in the field of biomass have been registered with an international patent by the International Spanish Patent Institute.

By using rumen fungi, we have succeeded in increasing biomethane production efficiency from both animal wastes and microalgae. The results we have obtained show that up to a 50% increase in biogas production efficiency can be achieved.

We consider it important that these studies contribute to the conversion of waste into energy, the reduction of carbon emissions, and the goals of the circular bioeconomy.
